HISTORY OF TULIP PUBLISHERS

MTW of the Presbyterian Church in America has been publishing books in Ukraine since 1995. In 2006, they transferred that ministry to the national denomination, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine (EPCU), which formed TULIP to carry on the work. This publishing house is named TULIP to show its commitment to the spread of Reformed literature in the Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking world.

We are hoping to make a major property purpose this year, providing more stability, on into the future. But prices have gone up, making such purchases difficult. Please pray for us.

We have signed contracts with a number of American publishers, including Baker, Zondervan, and Banner of Truth, and we are publishing a Reformed Journal for a Dutch Reformed Church which is distributed in Israel and the Russian-speaking world ("Grace & Truth").

In addition to publishing these great books, we have been able in our first year to get official registration (not a small thing in Ukraine!), to organize our staff, to travel to Moscow, Kiev, and a number of other sites to take part in book fairs and conferences and to promote crucial relations of exchange with other Christian publishers. We have also held several conferences on Christian education which promoted Reformed materials, and set up book tables at seminaries, conferences, and book fairs.

The Director of TULIP is Lyuda Voronchenko, and the Board of Directors is made up of 5 elders appointed annually by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine.

In addition to needing support and investors, we welcome "special orders" for the translation of good Reformed books. In the past, this has often cost about $5000-$9000 to translate and print. We have EXCELLENT Reformed translators for theological Russian, but it takes about a year to completely and carefully translate a book. So this cost is very reasonable for such a task. So we are seeking people who want to see REFORMED works made available in the Russian or Ukrainian languages.

Contributions can be made through MTW (Ukraine Publishing Fund #095982), or other arrangements could be made. So we would ask churches, organizations, and individuals to consider helping this ministry and praying for us as we spread the GREAT NEWS of Jesus Christ.
